  • Sale and installation of generators
(manual portable and stand-by complete with automatic transfer switch)

  • Sale and installation of surge suppressors/manual transfer switches

  • Do you know that a surge suppressor can protect all of your appliances, electric and electronic equipment from being damaged from POWER SURGES and is also linkable to a generator?

  • Have you considered buying a generator to use during unexpected and disruptive power failures? It’s a smart investment for your family's well-being!

THINK AHEAD - BE PREPARED:
Don't wait till you're in the dark and powerless...

STEPS INVOLVED:
  1. Call Multi Source Electric (MSE) for a free quote and visit well in advance when planning on purchasing a surge suppressor/manual transfer switch and/or generator.
  2. MSE will guide you with the choice of model for your surge suppresor (30 amps or 45 amps) and the length of the cord which would connect the device to a portable generator.
  3. MSE will guide you with the choice of model for your generator according to the power required based on the equipment that will be connected - see Generac Portable Generator Watt Chart.
IMPORTANT NOTE: MSE recommends generators that produce extremely low THD (total harmonic distortion)
power. THD represents the quality of power being produced by the generator. Often, cheaper generators produce high levels of THD (above 5%) which damages sensitive electronics in your home (furnace, TV, thermostat, appliances, etc.) and will also cause overheating of motors (fridge, freezer, sump pump, furnace, etc.).
  4. Multi Source Electric coordinates the installation (disconnection and reconnection) with the Electrical Safety Authority and the Electrical company (Hydro One or Hydro Ottawa).
  5. All portable generators are modified by MSE prior to installation to bond and unbond the neutral to ground. This legal and necessary process allows the portable generator to be connected to a house electrical system via a surge suppresor.
  6. MSE proceeds with delivery, installation, testing and demonstration.

All units can be purchased separately or as a package for greater savings.

We also can provide stand-by generators complete with an automatic transfer switch which operates on propane and natural gas.
